My Top 10 Favourite Movies
Well, I really have been wanting to blog but I can't decide what to blog about, so I decided to make this topic in a cheap effort to get all kinds of comments.
I started typing out my 10 Favourite movies, then I would think of movies I liked better so I'd have to revise. And then I'd remember "Oh yeah, that movie!" so I'd revise again. Anyway, I ended up with a list of 10 movies that I could think of that I really, really liked along with one honourable mention...
10 Movies I really, really like (in alphabetical order)
-Amelie (2001) An excellent, warm, cute little French film.
-The Fifth Element (1997) Wierd, wacky, and very cool!
-Fight Club (1999) No, not just because it's violent.
-Kill Bill Volume 1 (2003) A really fun movie to watch, I love good movies with a lot of energy.
-Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (2003) A great epic. But I don't have to tell any of you that, you've all seen it at least once... Eric:???
-Office Space (1999) A move I love, and many can relate to.
-Pulp Fiction (1994) "Mmmmm! Now THIS is a tasty burger!" Can anyone tell me who said it?
-Punch Drunk Love (2002) Ahhh. A love the characters in this movie. Adam Sandler is so good.
-The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) A quirky movie with lots of star power that some how keeps from being pretentious.
-Tombstone (1993) You gotta have a Western on the list!
And Honourable Mention:
-Shaolin Soccer (2002) Just watch it!
Critically Acclaimed Movie that I Hate:
-Hero (2004) Pretentious, boring, non-climactic fight scenes (which is roughly 3/4 of the movie), but beautiful cinematography. Great eye candy, but that's about it. (In my extremely humble opinion, of course ;))

I already forgot Donnie Darko. I love that flick, though not quite as much as Greg who, from what I hear, has watched it over 100 times.
Greg says it was only 57 times, but most of those were in one time period (straight through).
Office Space was actually quite funny.
Some how one of my top movies has become Galaxy Quest. Tim Allen does a great William Shatner and the whole play on the TV people trying to do in reality what they do on TV is great.
The Day After Tomorrow is a hokey armegedon, disaster movie that seems to work only because of some actors who really pull off their parts with skill (note Jake G of Donnie Darko as the son in this movie).
I on the other hand LOVED Hero.
But you knew that already.
Laura, you've never watched ONE title on my list? Not even Lord of the Rings?
And to think I use to look up to you!
--------
Greg's only watched it 57 times, eh? *Pssh* What a posser!
In no particular order, without prejudice and non-exhaustive:
So I Married an Axe Murderer
Pretty Woman
Princess Bride
LOTR
Star Wars IV V VI
Incredibles
Jerry McGuire
Family Man
Breakfast at Tiffany's
Star Trek (pretty much all of them)
Hoosiers (not to be mistaken with Hooters)
Waking Ned Devine
I can see how creating a definitive top 10 list would be difficult. I am sure there are others I'm not even thinking about that I would like better.
Ah "Office Space(s?)". I once told my bosses they needed to watch that movie (maybe a mistake). I love the scenes in which Jenn A is being treated as unsatisfactory for wearing only the satisfactory number of badges, and the boss who was never really listening and the guy who kept getting shoved down and down and finally out. Workplaces led by vague, ineffective communicators. (This would be a more pointed comment over on Mindsay).
I really like Galaxy Quest, too.
Yes, Galazy Quest was very funny
I was confused, but now I understand...
To me, Hero was that movie with Dustin Hoffman, Geena Davis and Andy Garcia... I don't think it was critically aclaimed, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
But now I understand that there is another movie by the same title... Haven't seen it - so I can't comment. (Well, I guess I just did...)
hmmmm top 10 eh?
Amelie was great but either I have not seen or did not really like any of the others you all know how I feel about Quintin T...I think I must see Galaxy Quest... oh wait I lied, I really liked LOTR
For me it depends on the genre of movie but here are a few...
Dead Man Walking
So I married an Axe Murder
Spirited Away
Finding Neverland
Moonsoon Wedding
When Harry Met Sally
Silence of the Lambs (eh, remember that one)
any of the EM Forester books adapted to movie..Howard's End, A Room with a View
Anchor Man
oh ya and SAVED is up there as well!
Ya - I liked Saved too - not a favorite though...
